The White Star Line liner Olympic is the particular subject here, a postcard view of a ship built to be among the largest passenger vessels afloat. Launched in Belfast in 1910 and entering service in 1911, Olympic was one of three near-sister liners that also included Titanic and Britannic, and she was driven by three screws, a configuration that the card's "triple screw" caption highlights. Olympic carried passengers between Southampton and New York for decades and earned the nickname "Old Reliable" for her long, largely trouble-free career. Postcards like this one were widely sold at ports and on board to travelers and well-wishers.
