Catalogued as a Japanese ukiyo-e print dated 1750, this item is a woodblock print rather than a photograph, despite the "photo" in its listing title. Ukiyo-e, meaning "pictures of the floating world," flourished in Edo-period Japan, where artists and publishers made affordable images of actors, courtesans, landscapes and city life for a growing urban audience. Each print was made by carving a design into wood blocks, one for each color, and pressing paper onto the inked blocks, so the same image could be reproduced many times. The record gives no artist or further detail, so the date should be read as the catalog's estimate.
