Dated November 22, 1912, it was taken about a week before Thanksgiving that year, when raffles and giveaways were a common way to stock holiday tables. The picture belongs to the George Grantham Bain Collection, news photographs from the Bain News Service in New York that recorded everyday events in the early 1900s.
