Billy Clifford and Maud Huth, billed as "Clifford & Huth," are the stars named on this 1898 black-and-white lithograph for *A High Born Lady*. The catalog terms for the image point to a couple reading a newspaper and pointing, a pose that suggests a comic situation built on gossip or a headline. The poster was printed by the Russell-Morgan Print Company of Cincinnati, one of the leading American firms producing theatrical posters in the 1890s, when touring companies relied on large, eye-catching sheets to sell their shows in towns across the country.
