Tanks are the subject of this 1918 French poster, whose title, "Souscrivez! et nous aurons la victoire," urges readers to subscribe and so help secure victory. The French government financed much of the war through national loans, and posters like this one asked ordinary citizens to lend their savings to the state. Tanks were still a fairly new weapon in 1918, which made them a fitting emblem of modern, mechanized warfare and of the hope that the war's final year would bring. The poster is signed "Simay" and is listed as item 77 in a printed checklist of posters from the period.
