The title names the bodies of Japanese naval aviators, recovered after a fall aboard a torpedo boat, a subject far grimmer than most in the collection. The caption was taken from the negative or its card and has not been independently verified, and no date is recorded. George Grantham Bain's New York agency supplied news photographs to newspapers in the early twentieth century, and its glass negatives now at the Library of Congress preserve that work. Read the details as the agency recorded them.
