A silkscreen poster from 1938 advertising an exhibition of ceramics and prints in Ohio, a state where the Federal Art Project held a number of shows during the Depression. The Works Progress Administration, later renamed the Work Projects Administration, employed artists to create posters like this one to publicize art events, and many of these designs were made with the silkscreen process, which allowed bold flat areas of color at low cost. The poster's date stamp of June 18, 1938, on the back helps place it in the middle of the decade's public art programs, when federal support for the arts was reaching local communities across the country.
