This lithograph sets Grover Cleveland of New York at the head of the Democratic ticket, with Allen G. Thurman of Ohio as his running mate for vice president. Cleveland was seeking a second term in 1888, having won in 1884 as the first Democrat elected president since James Buchanan. The poster was printed in New York by H.A. Thomas & Wylie and carries a copyright date of August 4, 1888, which places it in the summer of the campaign. Cleveland won the popular vote that November but lost the electoral count to Benjamin Harrison.
