Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr share top billing on this color poster, pairing the two stars who anchored the 1956 film version of *The King and I*. The musical, with a score by Rodgers and Hammerstein, opened on Broadway in 1951 and drew on Margaret Landon's novel *Anna and the King of Siam*, a fictionalized account of an English governess at the Siamese court in the 1860s. Brynner's shaved head and commanding presence became so identified with the king that he returned to the role in revivals for decades. The poster, dated to about 1965 with no publisher named, reflects the show's lasting popularity long after its debut.
