What sets this drawing apart is its subject: a drawbridge in Tokyo with foreign visitors, which the catalog dates to 1850 through 1900. The record's date of 1750 does not match the artist's active years, 1764 to 1788, so the period is worth confirming. Koryūsai was an Edo ukiyo-e artist, and Western travelers arriving after Japan opened to foreign trade in the 1850s give the scene its historical weight.
