This September 1914 view looks across Fenway Park from the right field corner, two summers after the ballpark opened in 1912 on the marshy Fenway section of Boston. The glass negative came from Bain News Service, a New York agency that sold news photographs to newspapers, so its focus on crowds, stands and surrounding streets reflects a working news photographer's eye. Researchers with the Society for American Baseball Research set its date in 2006, since the original caption details are not fully reliable. Look closely at the stands and open edges of the grounds to see how the young park fit into its neighborhood.
