Titled "Pershing's Crusaders," this 1917 color lithograph advertises an official film of American troops in the First World War, filmed by Signal Corps and Navy photographers and presented under the auspices of the U.S. government. The Committee on Public Information, chaired by George Creel, handled its release, part of a wider wartime effort to shape how Americans saw the war at home. The poster's design and wording show how the government used commercial printing and illustrated posters to rally support for the war effort.
