Agatha Christie appears here with her grandson, Mathew Prichard, on the left, while the right side shows a portrait of her husband, Max Mallowan, the distinguished archaeologist. Mallowan led and joined excavations in Iraq and Syria, including work at Nimrud, and Christie accompanied him on several digs, later describing that life in her memoir *Come, Tell Me How You Live*. The pairing of family and work reflects two sides of a life that informed many of her novels. The photographs date from about 1950, and the prints were made around 1977, a year after her death.
