Few pictures on this board show Roosevelt's name in such an everyday setting. This one shows a second-hand store in the town of Roosevelt, Idaho, a community that carried the president's name during the years of his national fame. Around 1903, Theodore Roosevelt's popularity was high after his Spanish-American War service and his rise to the presidency in 1901, and many Western towns and businesses took up his name. The print carries a copyright notice in the name of photographer W.W. Saunders, but its caption details come from an old card that has not been independently verified, so the store's proprietor and exact location are unknown.
