Urging citizens to hand over their coins, this 1915 color lithograph from the Committee for Gold of the Rhône department carries the title *Pour la patrie versez votre or*, or "For the homeland, commit your gold." The catalogued subjects point to its imagery of German soldiers, coins, and battlefields. In 1915 France was funding a costly war, and regional committees like this one collected gold to bolster state reserves, typically in exchange for paper money or bonds. The poster is signed by F.J. Barbier, and its bottom edge is split.
