The only identifying detail on this glass negative is the name Eva Morrison, and the Library of Congress notes that the title comes from unverified data supplied by the Bain News Service, so the sitter's identity and the exact date remain uncertain. The Bain News Service was a New York picture agency that George Grantham Bain started around 1899 to supply newspapers with photographs of news events and well-known people. Its glass plates, many 5 by 7 inches or smaller, show the look of early twentieth-century press photography, when agencies like this were a main source of illustrated news.
