Titled simply *Naval Parade*, this glass negative carries a caption that the Bain News Service attached to its negatives and caption cards, though the record does not confirm the title or give a date. Bain's New York agency supplied newspapers and magazines with news photographs in the early twentieth century, and its glass plates capture crowds, uniformed sailors and marching columns in fine detail. Naval processions of that era drew large crowds to city streets, where people gathered to watch sailors march past. The glass plate format was valued for its sharpness, so the image may still show the texture of uniforms and the street life around the parade.
