A naval parade photographed on December 27, 1918, places this glass negative in the weeks after the Armistice, when many American cities held public processions to mark the war's end and the return of service members. The Bain News Service, a New York photo agency, produced scenes like this for newspapers and magazines, and its negatives were often filed with caption cards that were not always checked. The title comes from that unverified data, so the specific event and location remain uncertain. Even so, the image shows how the Navy's presence was displayed in public during the postwar winter.
