Printed for the Northern Pacific Railway, this 1905 cover belongs to the company's *Wonderland* series, a yearly guidebook that promoted travel to Yellowstone National Park. The railroad reached the park's northern entrance at Gardiner, Montana, and used these booklets to draw tourists onto its trains. Geysers were among the park's best-known attractions, and the illustrated cover reflects how the railroad presented them to prospective visitors as the centerpiece of a trip. The series is a useful record of early park tourism and of the advertising art used to sell it.
