Riverside Geyser, shown here on page 68 of the 1905 *Wonderland* booklet, is one of the few geysers in Yellowstone's Upper Geyser Basin that erupts at an angle. Its jet leans out over the Firehole River and strikes the far bank, a feature that made it a favorite with early visitors. *Wonderland*, a guidebook published by the Northern Pacific Railway to promote travel to the park, pairs such photographs with text describing the basin's geysers and hot springs. Pages like this one show how the railroad helped build Yellowstone's reputation as a destination for tourists.
