The Grand Hotel del Capuccini in Amalfi takes its name from the Capuchin friars whose monastery once stood on the steep Amalfi coast, and the hotel's later life as a resort drew travelers to the area. Studios in Naples, including C. Sommer's, produced photoprints of southern Italian scenes that were sold to tourists and collectors in the late nineteenth century. The caption card gives no date, and the record's details are unverified, so the exact year of this print is unknown. Its caption tracings include "Hotel" and "Geogr.," which suggest how hotel views and regional scenes were often filed together.
