Baseball was a demonstration sport at the 1936 Berlin Games, so it was played for exhibition rather than medals, and this print from Leni Riefenstahl's Olympic album shows the game as it was staged that summer. Riefenstahl, the filmmaker behind the official Olympia documentary, made many still photographs of the Games, and this one was gathered into an album published in Berlin in 1936. The record's details come from an unverified caption card, so the exact game and players are not confirmed here, but the image still shows how a sport little known in Germany was presented to visitors at the Games.
