Union Station, the Beaux-Arts rail terminal that Daniel Burnham designed near the Capitol, opened in 1907 and became one of Washington's most recognizable buildings. This 8 by 6 inch glass negative comes from the National Photo Company, which documented the city extensively in the decade or so after 1910, when the capital was growing quickly. The title and date come from later cataloging and are not fully verified, so the date is a range drawn from similar negatives. Streaks and small blemishes in the emulsion reflect the natural decay of the original coatings.
