Union Station's plaza, recorded on this 8 by 6 inch glass negative, lies in front of the Beaux-Arts terminal that opened in 1907 from a design by Daniel Burnham's firm. The National Photo Company produced many views of Washington during the years this negative's date range covers, and its glass plates capture the city's streets and monuments in fine detail. The negative shows streaks and blemishes from the natural decay of its original coating, which give the image a faint, weathered look worth noticing. Herbert A. French gave it to the Library of Congress in 1947.
