Few details survive for this print beyond its title, which pairs a Democratic party platform with the presidential nominees it carried into an election. The shelflist card gives no date, and it lists the name Beckerman Brothers as associated with the print, though that attribution has not been verified. Campaign prints of this kind were common in American politics, where a party's platform and its candidates were often presented together as a single message to voters. Seen that way, the image works less as a portrait than as a statement of party identity and ticket.
