Tex Austin and Edw. T. Clark are the two men named in this April 3, 1924 negative, and the title comes from the label the National Photo Company wrote on the plate or its sleeve. Austin was a rodeo promoter who staged western shows in the eastern United States during the 1920s, but the record does not say what occasion brought the two men together. The National Photo Company worked in Washington, D.C., and its glass negatives document the city and its visitors in the early twentieth century. Streaks and other blemishes on this plate come from the natural deterioration of its original coating.
