Christ rising bodily into heaven, as described in the Acts of the Apostles, is the subject of this sheet. It carries only Nathaniel Currier's name and a date range of 1835 to 1856, so it was issued before his 1857 partnership with James Merritt Ives gave the firm its later name. Like many Currier religious subjects, it was a hand-colored lithograph sold cheaply to households that wanted devotional images for the parlor or the family Bible. The Gale Research catalog raisonné lists it as number 0301 among the firm's known prints.
