This sepia print shows the Portuguese African colonies' exhibit space at the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia. The fair, held in Fairmount Park in 1876, marked the hundredth anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and invited nations from around the world to display manufactures, agricultural goods and cultural objects.
