The poster advertises a production of *Blind Alley* by James Warwick, staged at a theater in Iowa under the Federal theater Project, one of the Works Progress Administration's arts programs. Its subject heading places the show in Iowa during the 1930s, and the stamp on the back, dated July 8, 1937, suggests when the poster was circulated. The Federal theater Project employed out-of-work actors, directors and designers and staged productions across the country until Congress ended its funding in 1939. Its silkscreen posters, like this one, were made by WPA artists and are now prized as examples of New Deal graphic design.
