Advertising the show as a "Congress of Rough Riders of the World," this color lithograph emphasizes the performers' many nationalities, a central selling point of Cody's touring production. The poster was printed by the Courier Litho. Co. of Buffalo, New York. Cody, who lived from 1846 to 1917, built his Wild West show into one of the most popular entertainments of its era, with feats of horsemanship and marksmanship drawing crowds in the United States and Europe. Bold color and large lettering like this were designed to catch the eye of passersby and announce the show's arrival in town.
