McLaughlin Falls, as the caption card names it, is a Vermont waterfall in the Rutland area, and this view dates to about 1907. The Detroit Publishing Company made it, a firm that sold scenic views of towns, rivers and countryside to travelers and postcard buyers in the early twentieth century. Its landscape photographs now show how many rural American sites looked before automobiles and later development changed them. The record is based on old caption data, so the exact location should be checked against other sources.
