The large three-engined airplane in this print is a Junkers G 38, a German airliner that was among the biggest landplanes of its day, with a wingspan of roughly 44 meters. Hugo Junkers' company in Dessau built it with a corrugated metal skin, a design that made its aircraft easy to recognize. The G 38 was meant for long passenger and mail routes, and it flew with the German airline Deutsche Luft Hansa in the early 1930s. The date range on this print is an estimate from an older caption card that has been revised, so the exact moment of the takeoff is not confirmed.
