The Last Cartridges Loan," as the title translates, turns a war bond drive into a call to arms, and its line "Frenchmen, one more effort!" asks civilians to fund the final push by buying government bonds. Printed in two colors by Les Éditions d'Art Paris and signed with the initials TEL, the poster dates to 1917, when France was borrowing heavily to keep its armies supplied. Loans like this one were sold directly to ordinary citizens, and posters were among the main tools used to persuade them to invest in the national effort.
