Few of the pictures on this board are named for a performer, and "Our Jennie" stands out for that reason. It honors Jennie Yeamans, a young comic actress who was then making her name on the American stage in the 1880s, when she was still a teenager. The print was issued by the Forbes Company, a lithography firm with offices in Boston and New York that produced theatrical advertising and sheet music covers during the period. Such popular color lithographs were often sold or given away to fans, and they show how stage personalities were marketed to the public. Its association with the dog subject is worth noting when you look closely at the composition.
