This negative is catalogued simply as Bonelli, a name the Library of Congress notes is unverified and taken from the Bain News Service's own labels, so the subject may be a person rather than a place. No date is recorded. George Grantham Bain founded his New York news photo service around 1899, and its glass plates, mostly from the early twentieth century, documented people and events for newspapers. Glass negatives like this one were fragile and needed careful handling, which is part of what makes the collection a valuable record of the period.
