Are you 100% American? Prove it!" is the headline that sets this poster apart from the many bond appeals that appealed only to general patriotism, because it turns buying a government bond into a test of loyalty. The Liberty Loans were the federal government's way of financing American participation in World War I, and campaigns like this one pressed citizens, including recent immigrants, to show their allegiance by lending money to Washington. The color lithograph was printed by Sackett & Wilhelms of New York, a firm active in producing wartime posters, and the record credits the design to the artist Stern.
