A horse and rider in a classical pose is the subject of this 1953 color woodcut by Soeng Moy, a Chinese-born printmaker who was born in 1921. Color woodcuts like this one are built from separate carved blocks, one for each hue, so every impression requires careful registration. This is a second-edition impression, numbered 3 of 15 and signed and dated in pencil by the artist. The Library of Congress acquired it through its Pennell Fund, which supports purchases of prints for the national collection.
