A geisha is shown stepping into a boat, with a boatman in attendance, in this two-page color woodcut. The sheet is one of the pages from a book titled *Kakuchū enpu*, and the Library of Congress dates it to 1803, a date taken from a 2001 publication on the Floating World of ukiyo-e. Artists of this period carved blocks and inked them in several colors to produce such scenes for a popular market, and pleasure-quarter subjects like this one were among the most sought after. The title was devised by library staff, so the image itself is the best guide to its meaning.
