Unlike the many posters that show Abraham Lincoln as a president, this one points to his early life, as the title *Prologue to Glory* suggests. Playwright E.P. Conkle wrote the drama, and the Federal theater Project, the New Deal program that employed theater workers during the Depression, staged it in New York in 1936. The silkscreen print uses flat areas of bold color to catch the eye of passersby, a common approach in the project's publicity. A January 5, 1939 date stamp on the back records when the sheet was processed.
