Gallant Fox, the unbeaten three-year-old pictured at the Saratoga track in Saratoga Springs, New York, drew every eye on the grounds that season. In 1930 he became the second horse to win the Triple Crown, taking the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes, and his trainer, James "Sunny Jim" Fitzsimmons, appears with him here. Saratoga, which opened in 1863, has long hosted the summer racing meet, and crowds came there to see champions up close.
