Four polkas share this one sheet, and "The Balloon" links it to aerial travel, while the others name San Francisco and a pleasure train. A. Wallerstein composed the music, Geo. Willig, Jr. published it, and A. Hoen & Co. of Baltimore printed the cover as a lithograph. Polkas swept American parlors in the 1840s, and pictorial covers like this one helped sell sheet music to home pianists. The record does not give a date, so the sheet is best placed somewhere within the broad 1830 to 1910 range.
