Homeward Bound" shows a winter hunting trip in which a rifle, a deer, and snowshoes are the key details, set against snow. The card was issued around 1899 by the Keystone View Company of Meadville, Pennsylvania, a firm that became one of the largest American publishers of stereographs. Its paired images were viewed through a parlor stereoscope, which made scenes like this one of outdoor life and rural recreation a common form of home entertainment at the turn of the century.
