Mrs. Thomas A. Edison appears here alongside Jean Jules Jusserand, the French ambassador to the United States, and Madame Jusserand. Jusserand held the post from 1903 to 1925, a long tenure that made him a familiar figure in Washington and New York social and diplomatic circles. Mina Miller Edison, the inventor's second wife, moved in those same circles and was often photographed at public occasions. The Bain News Service, a New York agency that produced and distributed press photographs, made the negative, but the sitting date is not recorded, and the names come from the agency's caption data, so they should be read as unverified.
