Mina Miller Edison, the second wife of inventor Thomas Edison, appears here with Madame Jusserand and her husband, J.J. Jusserand, pairing an American inventor's household with a foreign diplomatic one. Jean Jules Jusserand served as French ambassador to the United States from 1903 to 1925, making him a familiar figure in Washington social life. The Bain News Service, a New York agency that supplied press photographs in the early twentieth century, recorded these names on its caption cards, but the date and occasion are not documented.
