A woman identified in the caption data as Guila Morosini appears beside a horse in this glass negative, though the name is unverified and no date is recorded. The Bain News Service, a New York photo agency, supplied newspapers with pictures of people and events in the early twentieth century, and its plates now form the George Grantham Bain Collection at the Library of Congress. Horses were still a common sight on city streets then, so images like this one also capture a working world that was changing quickly.
