Taken from the Dominica, a vantage point the title names, this stereograph looks down the Calle de O'Reilly in Havana, Cuba. Edward Anthony, a New York photographer and publisher, issued it as card No. 87 in 1860, and its title promises an "instantaneous view." Exposures at that time were still fairly long, so street scenes of the period often show moving people and carriages as blurs, which is worth keeping in mind when looking at the busy street. Cards like this were meant for a stereoscope, which gave viewers a sense of depth and let them see distant cities from home.
