The title on this glass negative names a man called Senor Arnoldo, with David A. Salmon and F.P. Guthrie also listed, and gives the date as October 21, 1929. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C., commercial studio that worked from the early 1900s into the 1930s, produced large numbers of negatives like this one, and its plates later came to the Library of Congress as a gift in 1947. The names come from data written by the company on the negative or its sleeve and have not been independently verified, so the identities should be read with some caution. The glass also shows streaks and blemishes from the gradual breakdown of its original coating, a common trait of plates of this age.
