A French poster advertising the serial novel *Marjolie* by Michel Morphy, to begin in the Paris daily *Le Petit Journal* on September 2, shows how popular fiction was sold during the war. The lithograph is signed by G. Starace and dated 1916, when *Le Petit Journal* was one of the most widely read newspapers in France and serialized fiction was a standard way to keep readers coming back. The record's subject headings mention German soldiers, prisoners and nurses, which suggests the story drew on the war's human dramas. The poster's large color format was meant to catch the eye of passersby on the street.
