Four prints in the Kanji Collection pair a wheat harvest with a storehouse barn and a vegetable peddler, a combination that sets this group apart from more typical farm scenes. Such traveling sellers were a common sight on rural roads in the 1910s and early 1920s, before motor trucks took over local deliveries. The harvest and barn images show the two stages of grain work, bringing the crop in from the field and keeping it dry until it was sold. The record dates the set to roughly 1915 to 1925, but that information comes from an unverified caption card, so the date should be read as approximate.
