Its German title, "Ohne Ordnung kein Brot," reads "Without order, no bread," and it warns that disorder will bring famine. The record links it to a quotation from the British politician Andrew Bonar Law, which suggests the poster was engaging with Allied statements about Germany during the war's final year. By 1918, German cities faced severe food shortages after years of Allied naval blockade, and the months after the November armistice brought strikes and political unrest. The poster presents order as the condition for getting food at all.
